Bartola and Maximo, were called the "Aztec Children", of who if affirmed that they had been captured in a Intocada City of the Aztec people, called lzamaluma was a fraudulent history, created for a traveling story by American John L Stephens, whose trip to Lucata had been a thundering success.

Bartola and Maximo had been, in truth, bought and taken from their parents in Costa Rico, where they were born, and led in turn to the United States and  Europe, from 1851, till they died. The photograph of 1901, was from an occasion where they were examined, it is one that the German anthropologist Rudolph submitted  to Virchow. Publiched in Zeitschrift fur Ethnologie, 1901 v. 33:349 - 350.
